Seahawks Pre-season Recap

Sitting atop ESPN’s NFL power rankings the Hawks are anxiously anticipating the start of their new season and beginning another run for the Super Bowl. The Hawks absolutely dominated this preseason. They proved their depth and strength by finishing with a 4-0 record. Breakout performers include; MLB Allen Bradford, CB Walter Thurmond III, WR Stephen Williams, WR Jermaine Kearse, FB Spencer Ware. Notable cuts this pre-season include; WR Chris Harper, CB Antoine Winfield, and FB Michael Robinson. The stellar preseason play of Williams, Kearse, and Walter Thurmond III left no room on the roster for rookie fourth round pick WR Chris Harper and former pro bowler of 14 NFL seasons Antoine Winfield. Williams and Kearse combined for a total of 3 TD receptions and CB Walter Thurmond had 14 combined tackles, 2 pass deflections, and 1 interception. According to coaches, FB Spencer Ware’s production outweighed the cost of FB Michael Robinson. However, the passionate and veteran presence of Robinson will be missed.

An Off-season Overview of Seahawks Acquisitions

Seahawks made headlines this off-season acquiring WR Percy Harvin and signing him to a six year $67 million contract. Percy Harvin then made headlines after suffering a potential season ending hip injury a couple weeks into OTAs. Thankfully the talent at wide receiver is deep and even with the early loss of Percy Harvin the Hawks will maintain a threat through the air. On the ground, the Hawks gained even more talent with the addition of RB Christine Michael. Michael has proven to be another successful draft pick for the Hawks as he adds even more power running ability to the Seahawks backfield. On the defensive side of the ball, key offseason acquisition Cliff Avril provides a pass rushing force. Avril sat out the pre-season due to injury but will be ready to go week 1.
